a pair of target- and dueling pistols, caliber 12mm =
.48 percussion, 9¼" very fine octagonal Damascus barrels with dovetail
front sight and on top flat silver inlaid inscription GBR. HOFFMANN U. KISTER IN
SUHL. Lock, counter lock, trigger guard and hammer nicely engraved, ½-shafted,
the fore end decorated with a monster face, the white of the eyes mother of
pearl, the grips deeply carved and the butt cap is made from German silver. On
the breech is a adjustable rear sight with key in case. To adjust the trigger
pull there is a small screw inside the trigger guard. The bores are deeply
rifled, and the pair are in excellent condition and good working order.
The pistols come a big carrying and show case - 20½ * 12 * 3¼" -, green inlaid complete with powder horn, a single round ball bullet mold, screw driver, ramrod with worm to remove bullets, powder measure, key to adjust rear sight and a key, the covered compartment contains wads. The case is complete, but shows acceptable usage for being 160 years around.
