LORENZ BÖSSEL IN SUHL,
(Støckel: Suhl,
circa
1850) cased pair of Prussian target/dueling pistols. 9" octagonal Damascus barrel with
multi-groove rifling in caliber .54 percussion, top flat silver inlaid LORENZ
BÖSSEL IN SUHL with silver arrows framing the name. Silver banded breeches
equipped with two scroll engraved bolsters. Scroll engraved tangs with adjustable rear
sights. Single set triggers. Locks signed, deeply scroll engraved and fitted with gravity
safety stops. Similar shaped counter plate deeply scroll engraved. German silver furniture
nicely engraved, figured walnut full stocks with horn fore end caps. Grips finely carved
with leafy scrolls and central panels on a checkered ground with groups of silver studs.
The pair is in its original green baize lined case with scarce serpent head powder flask
(Riling # 1259), bullet mold, mallet, cleaning and loading rod, patent nipple wrench,
correct key and more. The leather exterior and some of the interior shows some small dents
and wear.
Still a decorative and very rare set in fine condition.
