Støckel: Charles R. Alsop, Middletown, CT, circa 1860 - 1863, revolver fabricant, patents 17. July 1860 # 22913, 7. Aug. 1860 # 29538, etc.

Flayderman's #  6A-002: 500 made.

 

Alsop percussion revolver, matching serial 219, fluted cylinder marked C.R. ALSOP PATENTED/NOV. 26TH 1861, 3½" octagonal barrel with 2-line inscription on top C.R. ALSOP MIDDLETOWN, CONN. / PATENTED JULY 17TH. AUGUST 7TH. 1860 MAY 14TH. 1861 and blade front sight, the side plate shows PATENTED JANY. 21ST 1862; the left side plate with PATENTED JANY. 21ST 1862. Over the frame is a long groove for a rear sight. Fine condition with original case colors on the loading lever, some original blue, and smooth gray and brown patina on most of the balance. The grips are fine and have most of the finish with minor handling wear. Mechanically in good working order. This is a fine and attractive example of a very rare American percussion revolver!    $4,850.
