Interesting Remington Rolling
Block model 1865 custom pistol with wire frame shoulder stock, caliber .32 rim fire, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks,
The for end period
stamped in fancy script letters W. L. Dodge. The
pistol shows a finely made target type rear sight 6¼” in length and
a folding type front sight, Landskron, page 219 sight protector. The pistol has an 11" heavy weight octagonal barrel
and retains 95% original blue, 75 - 85% original case hardening on the action, grips show 50% varnish with some wear, action and bore are good.
The for end shows some scratches and some loss of finish.
According to Jerry Landskron the shoulder stock is of the Stevens Old Model type, and now is numbered to match and fits into a groove which is milled into a plate which is affixed by four screws to the butt. The nickel plated butt and butt stock show 75% nickel over brass.
The pistol shows no markings and could possibly have been an experimental or personal project accomplished by Dodge, who was a factory employee and was well known in shooting circles.
From Jerry Landskron collection, pictured on page 155, # 4308. A desirable and unique set $5,000.
