Four-barrel flintlock pistol, circa 1800 made before mandatory proof was introduced in Birmingham, Great Britain. The 4 barrels swivel so one can fire the upper two, then swivel the block and fire the third and fourth barrel, in German called "Wender". The caliber is circa .50, and the four barrel cluster is
5½" long. The metal parts are kept in the white and now, more than 200 years of age, look mottled. The lock is slightly engraved and the varnished grip is a little decorated. Brass butt cap. A massive pepperbox in fine condition and good working order. $4,000.
